Donald Fan Contributes to D&I Measure and Accountability System at Walmart

Donald Fan is the Senior Director of the Global Office of Culture, Diversity & Inclusion at Walmart Inc. With Donald’s invaluable contribution, the office developed and implemented Walmart's Culture, Diversity & Inclusion (CDI) Measuring and Accountability System. It is made up of data analytics, CDI Scorecard, CDI Leadership Dashboard, Communication Process, and Customized Action Plan. The model helps sustains CDI progress; bridges gaps in mindset, knowledge, and behaviors; makes CDI leadership and business units co-owners of D&I; integrates CDI into the talent lifecycle; and promotes a long-term culture change. This system was broadly shared through various national conferences and welcomed by D&I practitioners cross industries. Donald influences and inspires business leaders through strategy development, program-design, data analytics, and storytelling.

As a well-accepted thought leader in diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), Donald Fan considers the efforts through a brand-new lens on three different levels. The first lens is at the philosophical level, addressing being a visionary leader and including everyone on the journey to create an inclusive culture. The second lens is at the strategy level and refers to adopting a growth mindset to drive continuous learning, change, and improvement. The third lens is at the program level which means leveraging design thinking and an agile approach to offer employees empowering platforms.
