Christina Bryant is the Senior Manager of Diversity, Equity, And Inclusion at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts. One of the successful initiatives that she is most proud of focuses on gender inclusivity. Some examples of this work include incorporating gender-neutral language into job descriptions, and encouraging associates to both use gender-neutral pronouns in their conversations and also encouraging pronouns in their email signatures. She is also collaborating with other leaders on enhancing systems and expanding resources for members to ensure they have access to affordable, equitable, quality care that encompasses gender inclusivity.
To drive DEI, Christina utilizes the 10 Employee Resource Groups that engage more than 35% of employees. She incorporates “belonging” into the DEI strategy to ensure the hybrid workforce remains connected to the company and coworkers. Christina also creates safe spaces for conversations to promote respect and inclusion of all cultures, talents, and perspectives. Associates are encouraged to share their perspectives and ideas because being open, honest, and receptive to other perspectives is critical to progressing DEI and belonging.
