Crystal Hardie Langston is the Global Head of Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion and Community Stewardship at Vanguard. She has built a multi-faceted strategy that embeds DEI in the talent lifecycle and drives sustained DEI change. Crystal’s approach includes strategic investments in global DEI initiatives and an active partnership with Vanguard’s Global Talent Management organization to drive more inclusive, equitable hiring and development practices and to democratize access to growth opportunities. Crystal and her team partner with a variety of institutions and organizations that support under-represented talent, activate levers that increase representation at the most influential levels, and drive accountability for an inclusive culture that attracts and retains great talent. Progress on representation and inclusion goals play a role in setting compensation across the company and cultivating inclusion is a core part of Vanguard’s performance management standards.
Crystal also drives meaningful progress towards equity through philanthropic and volunteer initiatives designed to offer crucial educational resources to students in the communities where Vanguard’s crew live and work. Vanguard’s signature initiative, Strong Start for Kids™, focuses on high-quality early childhood education and improving racial disparities among children of color.
