Dr. Maria Angelica Perez is the Head of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion and Social Responsibility at Fitch Group. She led the creation of Fitch’s first DEI strategy and published their first DEI Transparency Report. In her prior role at Standard Chartered, Maria Angelica partnered with the Financial Services Skills Commission to research Menopause in the Workplace and the Impact on Women in Financial Services. At Fitch, Maria Angelica supports the company’s commitment to championing sustainable practices and having a positive impact on communities.
In 2022, Maria Angelica led the launch of the DEI strategy, with the company committing to DEI principles and specific targets to deliver by 2030. The strategy developed a new strategic focus on strengthening employee accountability, increasing transparency and reinforcing the commitment to greater representation for gender and underrepresented talent. Fitch is a founding sponsor of the Council for Black Leaders in Finance and in 2023 hosted their second annual event. In South Africa, Fitch Solutions gained Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment (BBBEE) status. Other accomplishments Maria Angelica has overseen include creating the Fitch Young Leaders Path Program, launching the Supplier Code of Conduct, forging a partnership between Fitch and Inspiring Girls, and the introduction of a global minimum standard for parental support.
