Martina Winston Creates Safe Space for DE&I Learning at Protective Life



Martina Winston is an energetic, passionate people and community leader with over 20 years of experience currently serving as the Vice President Head of Talent Acquisition & DE&I at Protective Life. Under her leadership, Protective launched their version of Employee Resource Groups called Growth Networks. The Black, Women’s, and Pride Growth Networks create a safe space of learning, growth, and networking and encourage allies and advocates to participate with those who identify or have a shared experience. Martina strives to be intentional in her approach to DE&I, creating sustainable and scalable initiatives that supports Protective’s people, culture and engagement strategies.


Intentionality is one of the top drivers of Protective’s DE&I success. Martina routinely leads the DE&I team through strategic planning ensuring Protective remains focused on the right things in their journey. Martina uses her leadership ability to create a safe space for learning and growing that supports everyone no matter where they are on their journey. As a leader, Martina is able to foster an inclusive culture that spreads beyond her team of DE&I and Talent Acquisition professionals into the organization and the broader community.
