Michael Matthews, Senior Vice President And Chief Diversity & Corporate Responsibility Officer at Synchrony uses a data-driven methodology to inform global equity by utilizing the Advancing Diverse Talent (ADT) framework. He conducts an annual analysis to assess year-over-year outcomes, identify key opportunities and wins, and create action plans that are both connected to measurable goals and tied to executive compensation. Michael led the creation of the Advancing Diverse Talent Learning institute (ADTLI) which has three programs: Strategic Pathways, ADT Fellows, and Leadership Experience for Advancing Professionals (LEAP).
He aligned the DEI efforts with the Synchrony Foundation’s mission through a platform called Education as an Equalizer, which helps underrepresented groups acquire new skills, resources, and training.
Synchrony conducts an annual pay equity analysis with a third-party and partners with ERGs to influence key business initiatives and identify gaps and action plans to address the needs of underserved groups. Michael’s team also hosts an annual Global Diversity Experience conference, which allows all employees to reflect on progress to date and how to evolve.
