Susan Stith Makes Cigna’s DEI Commitment a Reality


Susan Stith is the Vice President of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI), Charitable Giving, and President of the Cigna Foundation. She is the guiding force in the development of successful DEI initiatives at Cigna, and previously Express Scripts. One example is the Building Equity and Equality Program, Cigna’s five-year commitment to expand, accelerate, and advance Cigna’s support for communities of color. Another initiative, the Brave of Heart Fund, was a partnership with New York Life and the New York Life Foundation. This initiative honors the families of frontline health care workers who lost their lives to COVID-19.


As part of the Building Equity and Equality Program, Susan was instrumental in the launch the Enterprise DEI Council, chaired by Cigna's Chairman and CEO. Members of the council include a diverse cross-section of business and functional leaders from across the Cigna enterprise. A key area of focus for the council is driving leadership accountability and addressing representation and talent advancement and development to increase belonging, innovation, and equity for all Cigna colleagues.
