Anative of China, Ying McGuire has come a long way in the corporate world since completing her MBA. Her successes as both a minority business owner and a corporate procurement professional eventually led her to leading Dell's global supplier diversity effort. Under her leadership, Dell has successfully doubled its diverse spend to $2.4 billion in less than four years. A number of initiatives spearheaded by McGuire have helped the company to achieve this milestone. In 2007, she expanded the company's domestic supplier diversity program to a global scale. Dell also actively promotes new untapped opportunities to qualified diverse suppliers, such as recycling used electronics. In addition to enlarging the geographic scope of its supplier diversity business development, she and her team created innovative programs making it easy for diverse suppliers to do business with Dell. For example, Dell's annual supplier diversity summit, bringing together prime suppliers and top customers to help identify new opportunities and entry points for MBEs. Dell's "Direct Talk", a forum held periodically on Dell campus, giving diverse suppliers access to six to 12 months of RFQ opportunities. Since its launch, 40% of participants have been included in RFQs. Outside of Dell, McGuire devotes time to her role as a vice chair of the Texas Asian Chamber of Commerce, a board member of Central South Texas Minority Business Council and served as an honorary committee member of the national MED Week 2008.
