The ex-superintendent of Antigua and Barbuda’s Medical Benefits Scheme (MBS) has agreed to become a state witness in one of that country’s largest fraud cases.
Cavelle John, 72, has expressed remorse for her role in the alleged scam that defrauded the MBS of some $230 million when she appeared with her attorney, Sir Clare Roberts, before Justice Mario Michel recently.
No court date has been set for the six other people accused in the case, which includes former health minister Hilroy Humphreys and former MBS accountant Elmeade Jarvis. The charges include obtaining money by fraudulent means, larceny, fraudulently applying for monies ....
