Bangalore, India: Mindtree Chairman Subroto Bagchi and wife Susmita have donated $1 million to the University of Florida's College of Engineering, to be used to support its new Engineering Innovation Nexus Building.

In a statement, they said it is a personal contribution ny bagchi family and is the result of old ties that began in 2011 when Mindtree was invited to open a US Development Center in Gainsville,home of the UF. The center is set to create 400 new jobs in the future.

"Sushmita and I have great affection for the University of Florida, and its efforts to be at the leading edge of education and research," said Bagchi. "We believe that their work will have enduring value for the people of the world," he said.

Cammy Abernathy, Dean of the College of Engineering, said, "They (Susmita and Subroto) care so much about education - especially engineering education - and about fueling it with their love for humanity and creativity."
