HackerOne Appoints Dawn Mitchell as Chief People Officer

HackerOne, the leader in Attack Resistance Management, today announced the appointment of Dawn Mitchell as Chief People Officer. Mitchell will draw from her expertise in building inclusive cultures for technology organizations to lead HackerOne’s People team. She will drive strategy for the core functions of employee experience and communications, talent acquisition, total rewards, talent strategy, and people operations.

“HackerOne’s culture already fosters connection and inclusivity across its entire global workforce,” said Mitchell. “My team will build upon this legacy. By establishing a best-in-class digital-first employee experience, we will enable HackerOne’s employees, customers, and the hacker community to drive forward HackerOne’s mission of building a safer internet.”

Before her role at HackerOne, Mitchell led Human Resources at Appian. Her work established the company as an employer of choice in top markets through an inclusive employer brand that reinforced employee engagement. Mitchell also guided Appian through its 2017 IPO and the company’s transition during Covid-19, receiving recognition as a top HR leader from DCA Live for her work. Mitchell previously held leadership roles at Red Hat and Opower, overseeing global recruitment, employer brand, and people analytics. She currently serves as an advisor to Happyly — an app focused on making it easier for individuals to have meaningful connections with their family and community.

“Ensuring that employees and hackers feel connected to our culture and values is essential to HackerOne’s success,” said HackerOne CEO Marten Mickos. “Dawn’s natural curiosity and proven approach to improving remote work will help us maintain an inclusive, productive, and global culture as we scale business operations.”

Mitchell’s appointment continues HackerOne’s focus to further build out its executive leadership team, following the recent hiring of Ilona Cohen as Chief Legal and Policy Officer.
