Nominated by ConAgra Foods,   M. Nuñez, the purchasing and sales manager for Northwestern Meat Inc. for three decades, entered the industry at a time when gaining the trust and respect of customers and suppliers in a male-dominated industry was a major accomplishment in and of itself. She now manages all aspects of procurement at Northwestern, ConAgra's largest provider of imported beef raw materials, and is responsible for the transportation aspects of the division with sales in excess of $100 million annually, trading with exporters based in Australia, New Zealand, Central and South America. Nuñez's dynamism and entrepreneur spirit have earned her respect in the industry, as she has been a key player in developing and expanding the ConAgra's international division. Her determination allowed her to gain decades of invaluable experience, watching and helping the small customers of yesterday become key players in today's market. Nunez sums it up best when she says "In looking back I realize that it was my determination to succeed and the dedication to my work that allowed me to overcome those obstacles and become the successful woman that I am today." She realized very early in her career that a small customer today could be your biggest customer tomorrow, and with this attitude has helped her develop markets in Australia, New Zealand, Central and South America.
