University of Maryland School of Nursing appoints Conyers as Associate Dean for Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion.

Yvette Conyers, DNP, RN, FNP-C, CTN-B, CFCN, CFCS, has been appointed as the Associate Dean for Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion at the University of Maryland School of Nursing. The previous associate dean for this position was appointed in 2016, making it the first of its kind on the University of Maryland, Baltimore campus. With UMSON experiencing increased diversity among its students, faculty, and staff, Conyers will serve as the primary advisor on equity, diversity, and inclusion matters. She will oversee diversity initiatives and collaborate with colleagues across the University of Maryland, Baltimore and Universities at Shady Grove. Conyers also holds a faculty appointment as an assistant professor in the Department of Family and Community Health.

Prior to joining UMSON, Conyers held positions at the George Washington School of Nursing, St. John Fisher University Wegmans School of Nursing, and the University of Rochester School of Nursing. She is known for her dedication to community engagement and has served in leadership roles in organizations like the Rochester Black Nurses Association and the Common Ground Health African American Health Coalition.

Conyers has been recognized with several awards, including the Rochester Business Journal Power 100 and the American Association of Colleges of Nursing Diversity Leadership Institute Fellowship. She holds a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree, a Family Nurse Practitioner post-master's certificate, and has completed various nursing degrees at reputable institutions.

Jane M. Kirschling, PhD, RN, FAAN, the Bill and Joanne Conway Dean of the University of Maryland School of Nursing, expressed confidence in Conyers' ability to build upon previous work and further advance equity, diversity, inclusion, and respect within the school community. Conyers assumed her role at UMSON on June 5th.
