The world famous World of Coca-Cola Museum in Atlanta has attracted soft drink enthusiasts for years. Thanks to Johnnie Booker, the Coca-Cola company's director of supplier diversity, in 2007 the company spent over one third of the funds to build this museum with MWBEs.  After decades of experience with organizations like the National Urban League and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, Booker's efforts at Coca-Cola have resulted in an increase in MWBE spend from 1.5 percent to over six percent. Booker has also collaborated with Clark Atlanta University's business school to roll out a supplier mentoring program that has improved the capabilities of Coca-Cola's MWBE suppliers. The program's participants have gone on to increase their business with Coca-Cola and secure opportunities with other companies. As a testament to her impact, the number of Coca-Cola's MWBE suppliers has grown from 147 to more than 540, and Booker has implemented employee accountability for reaching specified supplier-diversity targets. Under Booker's direction, Coca-Cola has exceeded its goals in actual dollars expended and in global recognition. Her greatest impact for women and minority business was as Vice-President at Resolution Trust Corporation, developing and directing programs to ensure MWBEs get their fair distribution of contracts in the liquidation of assets of failed savings and loans associations.
